Bio

I was born on November, 5th 1987 and on that day my mother surprised my grandmother by naming Douglas after her brother, Sgt. Douglas James Irvine, who was killed in action during WW2. He was a right waist gunner on a B-17 nicknamed "GUM CHUM". His last mission was on 29 April 1944 when a German fighter jet crashed into the cockpit of their B-17. This happened just outside of Berlin, Germany. I'm looking for any information anyone might have on him and his crew. He was a member of the 447th Bomb Group the 711th squadron.
