My name if Tim Williamson and my wife Cherie-Amber is the Granddaughter of Jennis (Jack) Strickland. Jack was a B-24 bomber pilot with the 8th Air Force - 445th Bomb Group stationed at Tibenham in Norfolk, United Kingdom during WW2. On the 24th March 1945 on a raid on Wesel, Germany Jack and his crew were shot down and killed. His widow Kitty Strickland, my wife's grandmother wrote a book about her husband's wartime experience based on the many letters he sent to her during his time in England. The book contains many photographs and details of the missions Jack and his crew flew, as well as eye witness accounts from the pilots of other planes on the same fateful mission. The book is called 'Red Roses and Silver Wings: a WWII Memoir', written from the perspective of a young wife & mother back home in the US, it gives an touching insight into events of the war that effected so many lives.
