Bio

I am an emeritus professor of pathology at Ohio State University. My father, Lt. Henry R Benefiel (1910-2000), was a CG4A glider pilot in the 94th Troop Carrier Squadron of the 439th Troop Carrier Group, 9th Air Force, stationed at Upottery airfield while he was in Britain. After leaving there, he was stationed in Chateau Dun, France, Orbitello, Italy and elsewhere. He saw action in Operations Dragoon, Overlord, Market Garden, Varsity and his unit was involved in the Battle of the Bulge.
