1st Intransit Depot Group
Group
Established in France in August 1944 to replace VIII Air Force Intransit Depot Group. The unit oversaw distribution of supplies from Britain along the 9th Air Forces supply lines in Europe.
Detachments of the intransit depot group operated railheads, airheads, and dumps along the supply line, unloading trains and planes and loading trucks which carried the supplies to depots or combat bases.
