    Was sent to the 8th AAF for 2 months, then transferred to Algeria to the 12th AAF and then to the 15th AAF. Shot down March 22, 1943 while attacking German airdrome at Mezzouna Tunisia. Became prisoner of war held at Stalag Luft III in Sagan Germany.
