Cold Norton

Airfield

Along with Southminster a satellite station of Maldon and one of a list of 75 airfield sites for consideration by the 8th Air Force in July 1942. All three proposed sites had been requisitioned and surveyed but it was decided to defer construction indefinitely. The station number remained assigned but no exact location is known, however it included the site of Stow Maries First World War aerodrome, which is currently being restored to commemorate the centenary of the First World War.
