Military site : non-airfield
Location very uncertain.
There is some confusion as to location as RAF Padgate was set up in 1939 on the outskirts of Warrington, Cheshire in the Insall Road area. Its role was to give new recruits their basic training and it closed in 1957.
However, coincidentally, in the post-war estate of Thurnby, Leicester there is Padgate Road. This area on the outskirts of Leicester would have consisted of small villages and country estates in the 1940s.
