Assigned to 330BS, 93BG, 8AF USAAF. Ted's Travelling Circus states the pilot was popular and had the nickname 'Tarzan' because he brought exercise gear and worked out regularly. He was also known for his 'Kraut crewcut' and is pictured getting his hair cut in the book.

Shot down 18 March 1943 in B-24 41-23666 'Hot Freight. ' Killed in Action (KIA). Flying in the diamond position of the lead element on a mission to Vegesack, Germany shipbuilding works, the plane took frontal attacks from ME-110 as well as flak attacks. Plane went down west of Seefield. Killed in Action (KIA) MACR 15595
