Mission of 22 Nov '42: 2 JU-88's attacked the plane from underneath and sent a bullet through Young's arm nearly cutting it off. After putting a tourniquent on it the co-pilot, Cleveland Hickman, who had never landed a B-24 before took over the controls. He was rapidly losing blood from a nasty leg wound and called on the Bombardier, known as Kelly (his real name was Anthony Yenalavage) to help him. The Bombardier got the plane down on the runway in England and got the crew back home safe. Others in the crew were wounded too. Young had his arm amputated at an English hospital. Plane's name was 'Ball of Fire'
