Shot down on 30th mission over Hamm, Germany, 26 September 1944, 1437 hrs. Kept a diary of our forced death march, 6 Feb 1945, Stalag Luft IV. Marched clear across Germany, 87 days, approximately 680 kilometers in the worst winter in years. Liberated on 2 May 1945, by British troops, between Hanover & Hamburg. Flew with John Mollery's crew. Plane was B-24 'Temptation' #42-50477.

On 2 March 2015 he was featured on a BBC programme for the Eastern region of the UK called 'Inside Out', covering the first time he had returned to his former base at Bungay (Flixton) in Suffolk since the war.
