Shot down 17 October 1943 in B-17 #42-30365 'Rum Boogie'. Plane crashed into North Sea. Killed in Action (KIA).



Technical Sergeant Henry P. James was born October 8, 1914. His next of kin was his mother, Martha James. His hometown was Frametown, West Virginia.

On October 17, 1943, he was serving as the Top Turret Gunner aboard “Rum Boogie III” of the 96th Bomb Group, 337th Bomb Squadron, when “in a word, the crew simply disappeared.” Due to bad weather, this B-17 was returning to base when it went missing. It is presumed it went down over the North Sea.

His remains were never recovered.
