Henry “Hank” N. Snyder was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on 07 May 1919. He entered enlisted service on 02 Oct 1941. He served for two years in the Signal Corp at Fort Mammouth, New Jersey and Luke Air Field, Arizona Telegraph Office. He was selected for Bombardier training in 1943 and attended Bombardier School in Deming, New Mexico and flying training (basic, primary and advanced) at the West Coast Training Center in Santa Ana, California. In Apr 1943 he became the Bombardier in the initial formation of Crew 11, 712th Bomb Squadron, 448th Bomb Group at Gowen Field, Idaho. In Nov 1943 Crew 11 arrived at Seething, England and from Dec 1943 to June 1944 he completed 30 missions over northern Europe. He was promoted to 1st Lt. on 22 Sep 1945 and transferred to the Army Air Force Reserve on 02 Oct 1945. He passed away on 06 Sep 1998 at the age of 79 and is buried in the Amery Cemetery, Amery, Wisconsin.
