Harvey F Protsman
Military ROLL OF HONOURpublic records of state of Ohio, USA list of killed in WW2
Shot down on 6 September 1943 in B-17 #4230010. Killed in Action (KIA). on the mission to Stuttgart, Lt. Asher called for permission to pull out of the formation to check a smoke problem in his bomb bay. He slid to his left about 300 feet and all seemed to be okay, when suddenly his airplane blew up in midair. The parachutes, without the crew men floated down through the air like autumn leaves. It was a sickening sight, because we knew that the poor devils were falling to earth without a chance to survive,This is a statement from a book by Gen. J. Kemp McLaughlin, a leader of the 92nd BG in WW II

List of Ohio, USA WW2 dead, Mercer County, page 57.
NOTE - Harvey F. Protsman is the correct spelling, as listed in the AA website. The spelling with a "Z" of the surname (as listed on the Ohio death records) is INCORRECT. Please keep it as is, but add this service number. I have a copy of the source info saved on my computer.
Harvey F. Protsman was my first cousin, one generation removed. His mother was my great aunt Ruby Fears, who had two sons, Harvey and Tommy Protsman. He was from Mendon, Ohio in Mercer County, USA. Some records incorrectly list his last name spelled as "Protzman" but it is spelled with an S not a Z, as Protsman. Correcting it here for posterity.
