MilitaryPrisoner of War (POW). Shot down by fighters 4 July 1943 in B-17 #42-5792 'The Mugger'. With one engine on fire, plane crashed outside Malicorne-sur-Sarthe, France, where a monument was erected to Pilot Robert O'Connor and Bombardier Richard Peterson who were killed.
