Class of 43-I; primary at Americus, GA; basic at Gunter Field in Montgomery, AL; advanced in Marianna, FL; instructed P-47 weapons training at Bluethenthal Field, NC '43 to '44; at MH 9/44 to 7/45; flew many fighters; flew P-47s & P-51s in 45 missions for 195 combat hours; after war reported to 357th FG at Neubiberg to run control tower; 1947 - 1951 with 20th FG at Shaw AFB in SC; pioneered in 1st mass wing-wide jet crossing of Atlantic; 2 yrs w/9th AF HQ in Pope AFB, NC; 3 yrs w/17th AF HQ in Ramstein, Germany (as with at Pope setting up gunnery ranges); 4 yrs doing flight safety research & safety programs for Republic Aviation; 3 yrs w/USAFE HQ at Wiesbaden, Germany w/weapons training; 4 yrs w/USAF HQ at Pentagon; retired in 1968 as Col.
