Rouen, France 12 December 1942 Served as Navigator of B-17F 42-24585 "Wulfe Hund", 303BG/360BS on a mission to bomb the railroad marshalling yards at Rouen, France. Aircraft was battle damaged and pilot crashlanded it in a field in France. 1LT Schowalter managed to evade capture.
