Gilbert A Wandtke
MilitaryShot down 14 May 1943 in B-24 41-24278 'Miss Delores. ' Wandtke was wounded with shrapnel in his knee by a flak burst. Communication in the plane was cut off, but the wounded Wandtke fought his way to the back of the a/c to warn tail gunners to bail out. Prisoner of War imprisoned at Stalag 17B.
