Frederick Seibel
Military ROLL OF HONOURShot down 16-Aug-44 in B-17G #42-31673 'Lassie Come Home' while serving as Navigator. Aircraft was attacked by fighters and crashed at Deiderode, Germany. Killed in Action (KIA). 20 or 30 mm cannon shells exploded in the nose of his aircraft and killed him. Harlon B. Williams, also in the nose of the a/c, was also hit by splinters from the exploding cannon shells, tried to drag Seibel to the nose escape hatch, realized he was dead, and he bailed out.
