Frank J. Rowe, 1921-2010. Born in the Bronx, NY, Frank resided in Brooklyn before enlisting. Trained as a Flight Officer bombardier he became Lt. Rowe in May of 1944. Based at Glatton, England he flew a full tour of 30+ B-17 missions over France and Germany from the Big Week in February 1944 to June 20, 1944. Possibly, his most harrowing experience, on May 28, 1944, was to endure waves of massed fighters and on the same day see an aircraft explode, with all lost, that was flown by Lt. Emmanuel Hauf and a crew that shared his hut for four months. Later, Lt. Rowe was training in Texas to be an instructor when the war ended. After the war, He worked for Boy's Life Magazine in the Sales & Development department for 25 years.
