Forrest R Cope

Sergeant Cope was Ball Turret Gunner on B-17 which was set on fire by enemy anti-aircraft on its return from Emden, Germany on 11 December 1943. Eight men parachuted from the aircraft. Two became Prisoner of War (POW), three bodies were washed ashore off the coast of Holland in the North Sea, and three bodies were never recovered. Sergeant Cope was presumed drowned in the North Sea and was declared Killed in Action (KIA).
