Other Fighting and wounded |
Floyd Rodmyre guarded bomber planes as they bombed Italy but one day he got hurt. A flak cannon shot a shell just off his wing and a fragment went into the back of his head. He blacked out and dived but just before hitting the ground he came to and pulled out of the dive. His wing man saw him dive and reported him dead so when he flew back they all got a surprise. He was awarded a purple heart. |
