SSgt. Floyd Zimmer was killed in action (KIA) on 16 Feb 1943 in the B-24D, 42-40354, Snafu, while serving as Left Waist Gunner. His aircraft sustained a mid air collision with the B-24D, 41-23818, Bela / Texan II, off the coast of England near Selsey Bill, Sussex en route to the target at St. Nazaire, France. Both aircraft crashed into the English Channel, and both crews were killed. 16 Feb 43. 20 KIA.
