According to Everett Barnes in 2014, he was assigned to motorcycle duty with the MP Company in 1943. His twin brother Edward was a driver assigned to transport munitions (bombs) to various airfields. On a delivery to Grafton Underwood in 1944, the brothers decided that it would be 'fun' to serve together. A quick trip to the MP CO and Edward's transfer to the MPs was a done deal! Unfortunately for Everett, he suffered an injury in an on-duty motorcycle accident, and while he was able to continue serving with the MPs, he was no longer assigned to motorcycle duty.
