Everett was called up in the summer of 1944 and after training and crew assignment picked up a B-24 at Mitchell Field NY and flew to England where they joined the 406th 'Night Leaflet Squadron' at Cheddington. Each of the squadron's twelve aircraft flew alone at night over enemy territory dropping leaflets. He flew on 41 missions, rarely as - a lone raider- being attacked by enemy aircraft. His last mission was on March 10 1945.
