Shot down 1 May 1943 in B-17 #42-5422. Plane crashed into Channel. Prisoner of War (POW) imprisoned initially at Stalag 7a Mooseburg then moved to several work camps ending at Munich 48-11. Earlier on 10 Feb 1943 crash landed B-17 42-5258 in Cornwall with no injuries to the crew. Poor visibility at that time. Planes were returning from Marrakech.







According to his obituary he was shot down on his 10th mission.
