Radio operator, Duncan crew. 381st BG, 532nd BS. Shot down 1 December 1943 in B-17 #42-29506 'Full Boost!'. Mission #46 to the chemical plant at Leverkusen, Germany. Diverted to the steel works at Solinger, Germany. This was S/Sgt Doherty's first mission. He was initially wounded in the radio room. MACR 1578. Killed in Action (KIA). Originally buried in the Memorial Cemetery of St Omer at Longuenesse, Germany. Buried in the Normandy AMC.
