Just after takeoff on an operational mission to Berlin on 6 Mar 1944, a fuel leak was noticed on B-17G #42-37761'Blue Dreams'. The a/c was diverted to Steeple Morden where a belly landing was made due to the crew inadvertantly failed to lower the landng gear. RTD. Flew 30 missions. Flew on B-17 'Hi-Ho Silver' # 4232116 from US to England but did not keep it for all his missions. Flew different planes
