Killed in Action (KIA). . Shot down 1 May 1943 in B-17 #4229620 on a mission to the uboat yards at St. Nazaire. Plane was shot down and fell into Brest Harbour. Earlier in April 1943, flying in Lt. Kenneth Reecher's plane, Zabawa was credited with one enemy airplane off the target
