Born September 7, 1916 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Volunteered to join the Army on December 31, 1941, shortly after Pearl Harbor.

Became the first Marquette University High School graduate to qualify as an aviation cadet, graduating from bombardier school at Midland Army Airfield and commissioning as a 2nd Lieutenant. He entered active service on June 11, 1942.

Janic was assigned to the 328th Bombardment Squadron, 93rd Bombardment Group (Heavy) where he served as a bombardier on B-24 Liberators. 

Flew as bombardier in B-24D "Shoot Luke" s/n 42-40128 in Operation Tidal Wave. 

 

Temporarily assigned to Libya with the 9th Air Force.

Returned to the US.

Died at Fitzsimon's General Hospital in Denver, Colorado on October 23, 1945.

Awarded his first Air Medal on February 1, 1943

Awarded the Purple Heart on March 23, 1943.

Awarded two Air Medal OLCs on April 10, 1943.

Awarded an Air Medal OLC on May 4, 1943

Awarded the Silver Star on May 6, 1943.

Awarded his first Distinguished Flying Cross on May 11, 1943.

Awarded an Air Medal OLC on July 25, 1943.

Awarded a Distinguished Flying Cross OLC on September 15, 1943.
