Donald C Aikin

On a mission to Frankfurt am Main on 8 Feb 1944 with two engines out and a third failing, B-17G #42-39940 'Dixie Jane' crashed near Laon, FR. The crew baled out prior to the crash. Evaded (EVD). Lt Aikin jumped at 4000 feet and landed near the village of TAVAUX-et-RONSERICOURT, SW of VERVINS, Aisne Department, France. Helped and sheltered by the French underground, he was back in England on 4 September 1944.
