The aircraft was attacked and shot down by German fighters near Villers-Ecalles, France while on a mission to bomb the railroad marshalling yards at Rouen, France. Killed in Action (KIA). Rouen, France 8 April 1943 Buried by the Germans in the St. Sever Cemetery at Rouen, France. Other KIA in this crew were also buried there and later inetrred in American Cemeteries in Europe. This may be a case where his remains were repatriated to the United States somethime after the war.
