MilitaryCapt. Robert M Cox had been misidentified as "Richard M Cox". Correction made 16/11/23 by Robert M Cox, II.
Shot down in February 1945 while strafing near Nurnerg. Took some hits in the wing and engine started spewing oil all over the canopy. Headed west immediately. Engine froze up and stopped. Bailed out over Ettlebrook, Luxembourg, just 3 miles inside our lines. Was picked up by 3rd Army and got a ride back to England . Lost 4 P-51s that day.
