MilitaryShot down 15 May 1943 in B-17 #4229677 'Battlin B. ' Plane crashed into North Sea. Prisoner of War (POW) imprisoned at Stalag 7A Moosburg and moved to work camps with the last 48-11 near Munich. He flew on the Alden Mann crew.

52 years later at March AFB CA - thanks to the efforts of the co-pilot's widow -he got his Purple Heart.
