Charles Raymond Sibert

Charles Sibert was Tail Gunner on his first mission to Bremen, Germany on 8 October 1943. He was on board B-17 42-3453 on his second mission when it was downed by enemy fighters on return from the 14 October 1943 raid to Schweinfurt, Germany. Prisoner of War (POW). Re-enlisted in the Air Corps after his return to the US after captivity. Retired from the USAF in 1964 as a Chief Master Sergeant. Went to work in the Postal Service in Clairemont and Grandview until his retirement in 1981. Married Julie on 9 July 1945.
