Assigned to 734BS, 453BG, 8AF USAAF. On 25-Aug-44 (penultimate mission), made it to Sweden with 1 1/2 engines at landing. Having been in aircraft engineering prior to being a pilot, was asked if I would help with the maintenance of our B-24s being held in internment. As a result, ended up being in charge of all B-24s and flew my own plane out with rebuilt engines, 9 June 1945, last of returned aircraft to England. Plane was B-24 Hoo Jive 42-52174

Awards: DFC, AM (3OLC), EAME (2BS), WWII Victory
