Albert E Ackerman Jr
MilitaryAlbert Ackerman Jr was the son of a lifelong Nebraska farmer and is listed as working as a 'laborer' at West Branch, Pawnee in the 1940 census.
During World War II Albert served as a Radio Operator on John Beach's crew of the 490th Bomb Group.
He was taken as a Prisoner of War (POW) when B-17 (serial number 43-38324) crashed at Zweieichen, near Opladen, Germany on 9 September 1944. He was held at Stalag Luft IV until liberated on 18 July 1945.
He returned to Pawnee, Nebraska after the war and worked as a millwright.
He died in 2005.
