Charles Herbert Baum Jr

Military

While stationed near Norwich England at a bomber station our planes were on a mission to Germany, I was working the airfield when one plane was forced to make a crash landing (one engine gone) It was loaded with live bombs. The air field was being strafed by Germans when this occurred. I rushed into the flaming plane to give as much assistance as I could. I received the Soldier's medal for this heroic deed. ( Feb 1944)

Good Conduct, soldier's Medal/ EAME ribbon/ WW II victory ribbon
