James Andrew Krispinsky

Military

Jimmy was born in 1919 and enlisted in 1942/43. He trained at Muroc and finished at Gowen Field in Utah. His unit shared a few B-24D models with 8-10pp per sortie due to lack of flying aircraft. He was in the original formation of 456th BG. After training the unit took the train to Hamilton Field (I believe) to meet up with their aircraft. I recall from a 456th BG reunion that he was remembered as a "prince of a man" by more than one of his colleagues. One of their memories was of him shaving outside the bathroom on the train while it rocked from side to side. Compared to many he was about 6-8 years older and looked up to by the younger new pilots even though he had about the same flying experience. They picked up the aircraft and continued training into the southeast US, including a passing of Orlando Air Base perhaps known as Pinecastle by then, now Orlando International Airport. He also passed through doing some overwater training out of Palm Beach. THen
