Lt. Jack K. Wood was a B-24 Liberator bomber flight officer navigator assigned to the 9th Air Force, the 344th Bomb Squadron, and the 98th Bombardment Group, USAAF. Wood's B-24D, 41-24298, The Vulgar Virgin, flown by command pilot Lt. Wallace Taylor, was shot down over Ploesti and crashed with 9 crewmen killed in the crash of the B-24D, flown by Wallace Taylor, who bailed out and was the only survivor of 41-24198's crash. Lt. Jack Wood was killed in action (KIA). MACR 166
