Robert D Smith
MilitaryWith the 91st Bomber Group at Bassingbourn Smith was tail gunner at times on 'Just Nothing', 'Little Patches' and 'Shoo Shoo Baby' flying a total 30 missions, the last being to Troyes in France May 1st 1944.
He always remembered once meeting General Eisenhower after returning from a mission. Smith was awarded the DFC and Air Medal during his service.
Post war he owned J&M Mailing and Pronto Land Measure and was a member of the Flint Chamber of Commerce. He died 11th January 2000, being survived by his wife Marilyn.
