Carey flew 25 missions as a Flight Engineer with the 323rd Sdqn, 91st BG, one of which was the first daylight raid over Berlin 6th March 1944. Aged 34 at the time Carey was known as the 'Ole Man'.



After the war he was a farmer and stockman until his death following an auto accident in July 1992.
