He registered for the WW II draft on 16 February 1942, and he was listed as a student at Providence College. He was 5' 7" tall; weighed 148 pounds; had brown hair, blue eyes and a 'light' complexion. He entered the service on 15 August 1942 from Providence, Rhode Island. He enlisted as a Private; he had three years of college education, was single, without dependents and his civilian occupation was listed as: "Unskilled occupations in manufacture of automobiles, n.e.c.". The NARA listing indicates he had a deferred entry date of January 1943; the VA BIRLS Death file data shows his entry to active duty on 13 February 1943 and his release from active duty on 14 October 1945.

We have him listed on the 437th TCG Special Orders #195, dated 27 December 1943. These were the orders generated at Pope Field (Fort Bragg, NC) for the first phase of movement by air and by rail of the 437th personnel to their eventual overseas deployment.
