Arnold Fredrickson

Military

Crashed in UC-64A Norseman 43-45439 at Shining Tor on 29 September 1944. Fredrickson was on a liaison flight from Burtonwood to RAF Winthorpe and back. He encountered bad weather on the return journey and wrongly assumed he had passed the high ground when he descended into Shining Tor.

The aircraft caught fire on crashing, but Fredrickson escaped. He made his way to Stake Farm, where apparently he was found brandishing a broke piece of the aircraft to 'fend off coyotes'
