Shot down 31 December 1943 in B-17 #42-29630 'Piccadilly Commando', Prisoner of War (POW).
''Augie" was shot down by flak on 31 Dec 1942 at 12:53. He and his crew members on the 'Piccadilly Commando' were captured by the Germans and taken to prison camp. My grandfather, Augie, was a Prisoner of War (POW) from 31 Dec 1942 to June of 1945. He was imprisoned in Stalag 17-B and then Stalag Luft 3.
