Fell out of formation after bombing target at Diepholz, GR on 21 Feb 1944 with trouble in two engines and unable to feather the props in B-17F #42-30280 'Crazy Horse'. Later attacked by FW190's and crashed near Ermelo in lake IJsselmeer, Holland. Evaded and later returned to England via Spain by 15 Sep 1944.
