Assigned to 410FS, 373FG 9AF USAAF whilst stateside, having made it overseas into the ETO by 28th May he was re-assigned to 367FS, 358FG, 9AF USAAF. Flew approximately 40 x missions. Failed to Return (FTR) Toul, France in P-47D 44-20469, on an armed recce sortie in the Heidelberg area, Germany. Shot down by 6 Me-109's after the bomb run on a marshalling yard the P-47 crashed near Hayna, 6 miles south-east of Landau. Germany. Killed in Action (KIA)
