"Jack" Hamner served as a tail gunner with the 401st Bomb Squadron, of the 91st Bomb Group out of Bassingbourn, England. He flew 30 missions from 5 Jan 44 to 27 May 44. Eight of those missions were in "The Jub Jub Bird" (aircraft 42-31883) as confirmed by the 401st Daily Reports. Two more are unconfirmed. Only his Pilot, Lt Roy J. Griesbach was listed for the 23 and 27 May 1944 mission reports on "883" instead of the entire crew.
In civilian life he was a supervisor in the Postal Service. His death on 24th January 2004 was reported by his wife Lilli.
