James C Stone

Military ROLL OF HONOUR

James Stone served as a fighter pilot with the 378th Fighter Squadron of the 362nd Fighter Group, flying missions out of Headcorn, Kent. On 21 May 1944, he was Killed in Action flying a fighter sweep over France. Bad weather caused him to crash near Chaumont. After the war his body was repatriated and buried at Mountain View Cemetery, Reno, Nevada.

Added following correspondence with Jérôme François - 'In memory of James Stone, US soldier, and my father, a French soldier 1944 and 1945, I have been working for 6 years on researching James Stone. His aircraft number was 42-75256 P-47 aircraft. James Stone died 21 May 1944.'
