Killed on the same day that he had received his promotion from Captain to Major (Executive Officer) of the 66th Headquarters Squadron. A college graduate who pre-war had worked as a tailor, he was football and basketball captain while at Fond du Lace High School in Wisconsin (graduated 1929).
