George S Montgomery

Military

Lt. George S. Montgomery was from Alabama and signed up for air training in 1943. He received training at Coleman, Greenville, and Eagle Pass, Texas. Montgomery trained with fellow 351st FS pilots, Lt. Billy Joe Murray, Lt. Walter E. Murphy, and Lt. John M. Nickelbur.
All of them surviving the war.

Montgomery first flew P-47d's and then P-51D's. He named his aircraft "Lady Margaret" and shot down 2.5 air victories, including 2 on March 14, 1945. His P-51 was aircraft code YJ-G serial #44-14796. On April 16th Lt. Edward Risk lost his life flying Montgomery's plane "Lady Margaret".
